The Archaeological Sites at James Madison’s Montpelier document was initially produced as a PDF for electronic distribution. The purpose of the document was to update an older booklet—Introduction to Archaeology at James Madison’s Montpelier—that had been outdated by continued excavations. In addition, the previous document had been somewhat a “franken-document,” serving as both an introduction to archaeological methods and a handout based upon a tour given for the Robert H. Smith Center for the Constitution. This document directly addressed these issues.
